Briggs Farm Adventures offers guided outdoor adventures connected with stays at Briggs Farm, located on five hundred acres of wooded bluffland and farm country in southeastern Minnesota's scenic Cedar Valley. The property includes fifteen miles of wooded trails and Cedar Valley Creek, making it perfect for a variety of outdoor activities:
Birdwatching. Located in the heart of the Mississippi River Flyway, Briggs Farm is the perfect headquarters for your southeastern Minnesota birding adventure. More than 280 species of birds have been identified in the bluffs, valleys, and backwaters in the greater Winona area. Briggs Farm includes a variety of habitats, including meadows, woods, and Cedar Valley Creek; in addition, the area's bluffs attract a variety of large raptors, including turkey vultures, red-shouldered hawks, and bald eagles. The nearby Trempealeau Wildlife Refuge has been designated a "Globally Important Bird Area in the United States," and features a wide variety of birds in its marshlands, prairies, and Mississippi River backwaters.
Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Our fifteen miles of trails offer exciting back-country skiing and snowshoeing through open country and wooded blufflands.
Wildlife photography. We encourage wildlife on the property by planting corn and bean forage fields to attract birds and deer, and by maintaining biologically diverse meadows. We do not use pesticides or herbicides on the property.
Fishing. Southeastern Minnesota is blessed with some of the most beautiful trout streams in the Midwest, including Cedar Valley Creek, which runs through Briggs Farm. Fish found in Cedar Valley Creek include brown trout, white sucker, longnose dace, blacknose dace, bullhead minnow, creek chub, central mudminnow, and brook stickleback. Fishing the Mississippi River is also a popular activity, especially in the beautiful Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge.
Deer and turkey hunting. With its mix of open meadows, corn and bean fields, and wooded bluffs, deer and turkey abound on Briggs Farm; ask about our guided hunting packages.
