About

This cozy, vintage three bedroom home built in 1900 and furnished with collectables, exudes a feeling of warmth to all guests looking for a home to come home to. Captain's Quarters is set in a quiet neighborhood off the busy highways. Walk or bike to all Lake City's attractions. We are a short distance to the downtown shops, parks and the Lake City Marina. Whether it be a day taking in the views of Lake City's exceptional lakeshore, antiquing, wine tasting, or enjoying a BBQ on the deck along with a backyard fire toasting marshmallows, you will find all the comforts needed for your peaceful stay. The home has been named Captain's Quarters in memory of my late husband Captain Mark W Peters. Mark served in the U.S. Coast Guard and loved being on the water. He piloted the paddle wheeler The Hiawatha giving guided tours of Lake Pepin on the Mississippi. This is how the bedrooms came to be named. The Hiawatha has a full size vintage bed. The Lake Pepin and the Mississippi both have queen size vintage style beds. All beds have colorful bedding, down alternative comforters and at least four pillows for your comfort. Robes, towels and extra blankets have been conveniently placed in each bedroom closet. The Mississippi room also has a private two person balcony overlooking the back yard. In addition to the home having central air and forced air heat all bedrooms have ceiling fans and electric fireplaces. The bath features a free standing soaking tub and a walk in shower. The kitchen has a dinette, breakfast counter full size fridge with ice maker, a gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, blender, crock pot, toaster, coffee maker and a Keurig, in addition to everything needed for preparing meals. Dining room features a round oak table, gas fireplace. Living room has a flat screen TV, cable and Blu Ray. There is a wide selection of movies, vinyl records, books, games and puzzles for your enjoyment. We also have other extras including outside games, four vintage style bicycles and four pair of snowshoes, to name a few. We have off street parking and great neighbors who are full time residents. I have owned the home for 30 years. Along with my husband Lyle, we are both natives of Lake City and know the area well. Our goal at Captain's Quarters is to make you feel welcome and comfortable while visiting Lake City. Our hope for you is that when you leave you take a new memory to add to your life's story.
