About

The city of Austin is getting to be a well-known destination for biking enthusiasts, and has been recognized by the League of American Bicyclists as bike friendly with an Honorable Mention. Our more than 13 miles of well marked, hard-surfaced trails connect you with many locations throughout the city, making it easy to visit our wonderful attractions or enjoy a delicious bite to eat at one of our many dining spots, all while allowing you to experience the special joy that biking brings. Explore our extensive park system - Austin has 28 of them with over 1000 acres, including paths around and between the Mill Pond and East Side Lake. Austin is now connected to the Shooting Star Bike Trail, winding more than 40 miles to LeRoy through wildflowers and surrounding countryside. And Austin now has the Schindler Way trail, which provides an off-road, "mountain bike" experience that is perfect for beginners or bikers just looking to enjoy nature close up and personal. For bicycles, gear, maintenance, advice, and an interesting historical perspective to bicycling, be sure to stop by Rydjor Bike Museum at 219 Main Street, and go through its collection of historical bikes that goes back to the 1868 Boneshaker.
