City of Nevis

About

Located on the Lake Country Scenic Byway in Northern Minnesota, Nevis is an active little city of just under 400 residents. It is the heart of a much larger extended community, with 90 lakes located within a 10-mile radius. Enjoyment of the outdoors is key to both the economy and lifestyle of the Nevis area.

"Home of the World’s Largest Tiger Muskie", Nevis is located on the east end of beautiful Lake Belle Taine and is the "Gateway" to the Paul Bunyan State Forest. The famous 27-mile Heartland Trail, a paved walking and biking path connects Park Rapids, Dorset, Akeley, Nevis, Walker and Cass Lake - providing four seasons of recreational activities with Nevis as a great central location of snowmobilers and bikers alike.

Nevis offers several public recreational facilities such as a free public beach, park, boat ramp and public access to Lake Belle Taine. Annual summer events such as; The Gene Cirks Memorial Fishing Tournament, Muskie Days, the Pig Races, and the Northwoods Triathlon provide the perfect reason to bring family and friends to the area.

Nevis residents and tourists will experience year-round enjoyment of the great outdoors. A large number of our visitors end up moving to our beautiful Northwoods…. ….it’s that good!
