The Cold Spring Area Chamber was established in 1963 to "advance the general welfare and prosperity of the Cold Spring Area so that its citizens and all areas of its business community prosper". Cold Spring offers a variety of recreation options, including 3 golf courses, boating and fishing, walking and biking trails, baseball and softball. Cold Spring is located on the Sauk River which is part of the Chain of Lakes, which consist of 14 lakes accessible along the Sauk River between Cold Spring and Richmond. Winter recreation includes sledding, ice skating, snowmobile trails, ice fishing, broomball and hockey. There are several area resorts and campgrounds, including Riverside Resort and El Rancho Manana Campground, which hosts the Blue Grass Music Festival each August.

Cold Spring has over 200 businesses in the city limits and surrounding area, with many businesses family owned, with several third and fourth generation operations. Hoome to Cold Spring Granite Company, Gold'n Plump Poultry, Cold Spring Brewing Company, and a renowned Bakery.

The Cold Spring Area Chamber has over 100 members, and is active in the community, offering networking opportunities for businesses and sponsoring events that include the Community Showcase, Chamber Golf Tournament, Community Clean-up Day, HomeTown Pride Days Community Breakfast and the HomeTown Pride Volunteer Awards.
