Mantorville Restoration Association

About

The Mantorville Restoration Association is a 501c non-profit group dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of the original structures owned by the association. The MRA was organized in 1967 for the purpose of preserving and restoring the architecture and history of Mantorville. In 1974, working with the Dodge County and Minnesota Historical Societies and the U.S. Department of the Interior, the MRA established Mantorville’s Historic District. This area is centered around Main Street (Highway 57) and 5th Street and includes 24 structures dating from 1850 to 1918. According to Mantorville City Ordinance 150.073, Minnesota statutes and the National Registry of Historic Places, we will act as an historic preservation commission, maintaining Mantorville’s Historic District. We will share Mantorville’s story with our members, the citizens of Mantorville and visitors to Mantorville and in doing so, pass onto future generations the continuing chronicle of this city.

The Mantorville Restoration Association is the proud owner of six properties in the Historic District. One by one, historic buildings were determined to be at risk and we acquired them. Some cost one dollar and others significantly more than that. The properties that the MRA owns are:

  • RESTORATION HOUSE  540 North Main Street
  • LOG HOUSE  540 North Main Street
  • OPERA HOUSE  5 5th Street West
  • CARRIAGE HOUSE  411 Clay Street
  • NORMAL SCHOOL  804 Clay Street
  • GREEK REVIVAL  411 Clay Street
