Nestled on the edge of Cascade River State Park, our NorthLight cabins are located in the heart of the most legendary and spectacular stretch of the entire North Shore of Lake Superior. From the doorsteps of Painted Rock, Cedarwood Hollow, WoodSong, and SweetWater Cottage are hundreds of miles of Sawtooth Mountains trails, perfect for hiking in the summer and cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter. A nearby trail will lead you to the Cascades, a series of five waterfalls, or you can take an easy half-mile walk to Cascade Restaurant & Pub for great food, drinks, and frequent live music. And everything the North Shore is known for is within a thirty-minute drive: world-class hiking, fishing, kayaking, bike trails, skiing, art galleries, restaurants, the NorthHouse Folk School, a vibrant music scene, and more. After all, this is the heart of Cook County and Grand Marais, which was recently named the "Coolest Small Town in America!"
