Zorbaz on the Lake was conceived in 1969 and established just barely in an old candy store by a disgruntled speech teacher and his dental assistant wife. The name comes from the popular 1960'z movie Zorba the Greek starring Anthony Quinn. Zorba was fun loving, free spirited, carefree and happy. Exactly the atmosphere and attitude the teacher and his bride wanted for their no shirt, no shoes, no problems northern Minnesota lakes area beach bar. Why Mexican food and pizza instead of gyros, lamb and baklava? Why not!
