BROADWAY PIZZA, MULTIPLE LOCATIONS

With 12 locations across Minnesota, Broadway Pizza dubs themselves the “best pizza in your neighborhood" and many diners agree. They offer over a dozen specialty pizzas, or you can build your own. They're known for their square cut-style pizzas but also offer thin crust, New York-style, and deep dish.

PARKWAY PIZZA, MULTIPLE LOCATIONS

This popular Twin Cities chain operates four locations across the Twin Cities and offers square cut pizzas for delivery, carry out, or dine-in. They also offer vegan pizza using ingredients from The Herbivorous Butcher. Don’t miss their Minnehaha Greek topped with fresh vegetables and goat cheese.

RED’S SAVOY, MULTIPLE LOCATIONS

Red's Savoy call themselves ‘Sota-style pizza and has 20 locations throughout Minnesota. Their classic square cut style pizzas are thin and fully loaded with toppings, a mixture of two different cheeses and a sweet sauce with a slight kick. BRICKSWORTH BEER CO., MINNEAPOLIS & BURNSVILLE

Bricksworth has two locations — one in Minneapolis' North Loop neighborhood (walkable to Target Field) and one in the south metro suburb Burnsville. Some of their signature pizzas are the Aloha Friday — their spin on classic Hawaiian — and the Box Logo with Italian sausage crumbles, cup pepperoni, cremini mushrooms, roasted red peppers, and caramelized onions.

WRECKTANGLE PIZZA, MULTIPLE LOCATIONS

With several Minneapolis locations and a special Palace Theater partnership in St. Paul, Wrecktangle has been very busy perfecting Detroit-style pizzas over the past few years. They even won Good Morning America's “Best Pizza in the U.S.” competition in early 2023, beating out popular spots from Philadelphia, New York, Atlanta and Chicago. One of their most popular pies is the Shredder, topped with pepperoni, pickled jalapeño, whipped Cry Baby Craig’s honey, and pecorino romano cheese. Joining the burgeoning trend of Detroit-style pizza in Minnesota, Melt Pizza Company has been slinging square pies in Stillwater since 2021. Try the Dream Team with pepperoni, ricotta, basil and hot honey or the Funkytown with garlic confit cream, sausage, spinach, onion, mushroom, and pecorino cheese. Order a side of their unique chicken wings with options like tajin honey, orange chicken or Cry Baby Craig Buffalo using the beloved local hot sauce.

FRANKIE’S CHICAGO STYLE, NEW HOPE

BRODER’S CUCINA, MINNEAPOLIS

Offering both classic and New York style pizzas, Broder’s is a popular spot for Italian food in south Minneapolis. Try their specialty pizzas, including the Pigs and Figs with hot sausage and figs, classic pepperoni, or create your own.

ELMAR’S PIZZA (PLYMOUTH)

Offering their most authentic representation of New York style pizza, ElMar’s Pizza in Plymouth uses a proprietary water solution to mimic New York City’s water to get that authentic crust. Try their margherita pie with fresh mozzarella and basil or their white pie (no sauce) with three cheese, fresh herbs and pepper. For a unique spin, their chicken parm pie is topped with breaded chicken cutlet, basil, fresh mozzarella and garlic oil.

FAT LORENZO'S (MULTIPLE LOCATIONS)

With locations in both Minneapolis and Bloomington, Fat Lorenzo’s is known for its hearty, New York-style pies and colorful murals by Twin Cities artist Ed Charbonneau. Diners can build their own pizza or enjoy one of the house-made combinations like the Carne Pazza, topped with pepperoni, Canadian bacon, sausage and sliced meatballs, or the Alfrenzo, with Alfredo sauce, chicken, artichokes, roasted red peppers, spinach, ricotta, mozzarella and provolone. It’s also one of the only places in the Twin Cities — Surly is another — where you can order a New Haven-style pizza, topped with baby clams in a rich herb sauce with asiago cheese.

SLICE BROTHER’S PIZZA, MULTIPLE LOCATIONS

This New York-style pizza joint originated in Northeast Minneapolis and now has expanded to locations in Midtown Global Market, the Frogtown neighborhood of St. Paul, and Mall of America. Slice is Minneapolis’ first Black-owned pizza shop and offers slices, classic pizzas, and specialty pizzas. Before you order, check their rotating pizza of the week.

TOMMIE’S PIZZA, MINNEAPOLIS

Serving New York style pizza on Selby Avenue in St. Paul, Tommie’s Pizza is another Black-owned pizza shop in St. Paul. Get pizzas by the slice, personal, or larger sizes for takeout. It’s a family restaurant through and through, with many of Tommie’ own family behind the counter or in the kitchen. Try the Selby with sausage, onion, tomatoes, sauerkraut, and tomatoes or the St. Paul with fresh mozzarella, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, onions, and black olives.

PIZZERIA LOLA, YOUNG JONI AND HELLO PIZZA, MINNEAPOLIS & EDINA

Don’t be intimidated by the crowds at Pizzeria Lola, Young Joni or Hello Pizza. They're worth the wait. Belly up to the bar for a local brew, snap a photo in the photo booth and patiently wait for a table while you watch the piping hot pizzas baking in the large copper oven.

Pizzeria Lola was featured on “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” and has a legion of fans that adore its artisan pizzas. Some of the most popular pies are the Korean BBQ with short ribs, the My Sha-Roni! with pepperoni and house-made fennel sausage, and the Sunnyside with an organic sunny side-up egg.

ROSALIA, MINNEAPOLIS

This Mediterranean-inspired restaurant from chef/restauranteur Daniel Del Prado is located near Lake Harriet in Minneapolis and offers takeout or dine-in for their popular pizzas. Rosalia’s wood fired pizzas are the star with options like the Zucca, topped with butternut squash, onion, feta, hazelnut, oregano and honey or the Bianca with three different cheeses, including a lemon ricotta.

RED RABBIT, MINNEAPOLIS & ST. PAUL

Located in the North Loop neighborhood and Grand Avenue in St. Paul, Red Rabbit’s wood-fired pizzas are thin and crispy and topped with fresh toppings like confit mushrooms, spicy salami, and fontina cheese.

NORTHERN FIRES, MINNEAPOLIS

Using locally sourced wheat, meat, cheese, and veggies, Northern Fires pizza with sourdough crust should not be missed. Pizzas are seasonal or classic, with options like margherita, mushroom, butternut squash, pepperoni and more. Vegan options are also available.

TONO PIZZERIA AND CHEESESTEAKS, MULTIPLE LOCATIONS

Tono Pizzeria and Cheesesteaks have exploded across the Twin Cities with six locations. The individual sized pizzas use dough and sauce recipes developed over 45 years ago in Italy. Try the Don Carlo with pepperoni, hot honey, burrata and basil or the Tono (spicy or not spicy) with sausage, pepperoni, caramelized tomato and onion and red chili oil.

SAINT PAUL BREWING, ST. PAUL

The combination of a wood-fired pizza alongside one of the craft brews produced on site at Saint Paul Brewing, makes for a great night out within the historic Hamm's Brewing complex. By venturing beyond their initial focus on beer, Saint Paul Brewing introduced their delectable wood-fired pizzas. Notably, their classic Margherita pizza serves as an exquisite complement to their painstakingly crafted assortment of beers.

PUNCH PIZZA, MULTIPLE LOCATIONS

A Twin Cities icon, Punch Pizza serves Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizzas and has appeared on The Travel Channel and earned praise from Meryl Streep and Barack Obama. With 12 locations throughout the Twin Cities, you’re bound to find a Punch near you. Every pizza is made with crushed tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and can be topped with fresh vegetables, meats, herbs, and more.

RED WAGON PIZZA, MINNEAPOLIS

Once featured on the popular TV show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives", Red Wagon Pizza in south Minneapolis is always at the top of Twin Cities lists for favorite pizza places. With a dozen specialty pizzas on the menu, one of their most popular pies, the Red Wagon featured on DDD features red sauce, sopressata, banana peppers, chili flakes, and drizzled with a fig balsamic.

PIZZA LUCÉ, MULTIPLE LOCATIONS

Pizza Lucé serves award-winning pizza and offers many vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. Some of their post popular pies are the Luce loaded with Italian sausage, garlic, onion and extra mozzarella, the baked potato pizza with mashed potatoes, broccoli, cheddar cheese, tomatoes and bacon or the wild mushroom with a delicious mushroom blend.

QC PIZZA, MAHTOMEDI 

At QC Pizza in Mahtomedi, the Kinda Big Dill pizza went viral on the internet and has been satisfying customers ever since. This unique pizza features a homemade garlic dill sauce, Canadian bacon that has been smoked for 48 hours, thinly sliced dill pickles and mozzarella cheese. If pickles are not your thing, try the Minnesota Masher baked potato pizza, jerk chicken pizza, sour pig topped with sauerkraut and other unique menu options.

COSETTA'S, ST. PAUL

The first Cosetta’s opened in 1911 as a tiny food market before moving to its current location in 1984 near downtown St. Paul. Visitors can order a slice of pizza or an entire pie. Cosetta’s takes pride in its ingredients, like the select California tomatoes, artisan cheese and house-made sausage. Diners often have trouble deciding between pizza or the delicious pastas, sandwiches and salads.

Located in the North Loop neighborhood and Eat Street, Black Sheep Pizza was Minnesota’s first coal-burning pizza restaurant. Offering more than a dozen specialty pies, their most popular pizza is topped with ricotta, meatballs, and fresh garlic.

DAVANNIS, MULTIPLE LOCATIONS

A popular Twin Cities chain, Davanni’s has been open since 1975 and currently operates 21 locations throughout the metro. With thin, traditional, deep dish or gluten free crust, everyone can have their favorite. They also offer calzones, pasta, and hot hoagies. Don't miss their garlic cheese bread, it's the perfect side to any of their pizzas.

NOUVELLE BREWING, ROBBINSDALE

Formally known as Pig Ate My Pizza, Nouvelle Brewing in downtown Robbinsdale is brewing tasty beer, seltzers, cocktails and offering their fan favorite Pig Ate My Pizza pies like their famous Piggy Pie with a brioche crust, bacon emulsion, sausage and pepperoni. Other pizzas are topped with cheese curds, whipped ricotta, and more. Check their menu for their seasonal and rotating specials.

BOLUDO, MINNEAPOLIS

This Argentinian spot is known equally for their pizza and empanadas. Boludo’s pizza dough is tender, chewy, and has a great char. These oblong shaped pies are a Twin Cities must-try and come topped with classic ingredients like pepperoni, margarita, with one of their most popular pies, the Peras, topped with pear, gorgonzola, pine nuts, and dill.

This tandoor-fired pizzeria has expanded into three locations and two food trucks across the Twin Cities. Pizza Karma serves Indian-inspired pizzas with flavors like chicken tikka, paneer, coconut paneer, and more.

Yes, this delicious pizza is shaped like a football. The pizza originated at Crescent Moon Bakery, an Afghan eatery and has now expanded into two locations in Northeast Minneapolis and Eagan. MARIO’S PIZZA, ST. PAUL

Specializing in Sicilian pan pizzas, Mario’s in St. Paul uses organic Biano DiNapoli tomatoes, fresh produce and high-quality flour in its pies. With the thicker crust, it’s a hefty bite and holds up to toppings like sausage, pepperoni, oyster mushrooms, ricotta, and more.

MUCCI’S, ST. PAUL

Serving deep-fried pizza, Mucci’s in St. Paul is one of the best spots for a slice in the Twin Cities.
