About
Camping in the Chippewa National Forest can range from a starry night in the backcountry to a developed campground with paved bike trails and hot showers. Chippewa National Forest has 21 campgrounds and 100 backcountry camping sites. Developed Campground facilities vary from sites with electricity and running water to rustic campgrounds with vault toilets and hand pump water wells. Each campsite has a picnic table, fire ring and tent pad. Sites are open for both tent and RV sites. Backcountry sites can be accessed by foot, boat or car. Campers choose the experience! Visitors can camp throughout the year, but note that most developed campgrounds are open May thru September, with three campgrounds open into mid-October.
