Kettle River SNA

This sites elevation varies across the SNA by nearly 100 feet, providing a range of growing conditions for native plant communities. In the southern third of the site, floodplain forest is represented by silver maple, black ash, basswood and elm. In contrast, the poorly drained lowlands in the central and northern parts of the site are occupied by sedge meadows, cattail marsh, willow/alder shrub thickets, and mixed woodlands of black spruce, tamarack, yellow birch, and balsam fir.

Kettle River Camping Park

Located on Hwy 48 & the Kettle River – 4 miles east of Hinckley – 80+ wooded acres with hiking trails, fishing, bird watching - 21 sites – centrally located well & toilets - fire rings & tables – available for large group / company outings. NO water / sewer hook ups

Kettle Falls Hotel

Isolated in the heart of Voyageurs National Park, lies this historic remnant of the past. From the end of the nearest road it's a 13 mi boat ride. Tour boats run almost daily in summer; see bald eagles, osprey, great blue herons and other wildlife. Look south in to Canada due to a twist in the int'l border. The original saloon with it's rolling floor is pockmarked from loggers' hobnail boots.

Kensington Runestone Park Trails

12.0 km track set. Mostly intermediate-level trails. Gently rolling glacial hills populated by oak, ash, maple, and basswood forest. The loop-style trail system winds around two small lakes. Trail maps are available at the visitor center which is a remodeled dairy barn. The building is heated and includes bathrooms and a small kitchen.

Newly developed dedicated mountain bike trails, and nearly 8 miles of multi-use trail to ride, run, and hike on.
