Jaques Art Center

Celebrating the visual arts in north central Minnesota.

The Jaques Art Center and Museum in Aitkin was established in 1995 to commemorate the life and works of former Aitkin resident and renowned wildlife artist, Francis Lee Jaques. A permanent collection of his art is found in the Jaques Gallery.

We support the visual arts in the Aitkin area with changing art exhibits every 6 - 7 weeks in the Carnegie Gallery.

We are housed in the beautifully renovated former 1911 Carnegie Library Building which is on the Registry of Historic Places.

James Sewell Ballet

James Sewell Ballet was founded in New York City by James Sewell and Sally Rousse and brought to Minnesota in 1993. Combining their expertise, vision and chutzpah they envisioned a close-knit company of dance artists willing to both challenge their physical limits and expand their notions about ballet. Over two decades later, critically acclaimed JSB performances move and delight audiences across the country. The embodiment of the original vision is a professional company of ten dancers performing innovative work that explores the technical boundaries of ballet.
