Join us at the Owatonna Arts Center for a roundtable discussion on the Owatonna State School. In the mid-1940s, changes in social philosophy led to discontinuation of residential institutionalization of orphan children and the move to foster care. The Minnesota State Public School campus was repurposed as a school for the “educable mentally disabled.” For 25 years, the Owatonna State School helped educate children with learning disabilities. This program is sponsored by Federated Insurance.
