Big Bog State Recreation Area

Big Bog State Recreation Area has been called Minnesota's last true wilderness. The 500-square mile peat bog is the largest in the lower 48 states. A mile-long boardwalk enables visitors to get a first-hand look at the unique plant and animal life of this rare resource. From orchids to carnivorous plants to rare birds, visitors will see a mixture of fascinating and rare resources. Fishing is excellent at this recreation area. Walleye and trophy northern pike are plentiful.

White Pine Lodge

Big Axe Brewery and taproom opened in downtown Nisswa on May 14, 2015. We are a small batch craft brewery with a kitchen. We specialize in producing a variety of full flavored, creative and freshly crafted brews and offer a fun, relaxing environment in which to enjoy them.

Big Aspen Trail

33 km trackset. Mostly beginner and intermediate level trails. Follow the signs for public parking lot that is on the corner of Forest Rds 256 & 257. Superior National Forest trail runs through red pine and aspen forest with many scenic overlooks and through a vast reforested area. Shelters on trail. Many kilometers suitable for beginners. Maps along trail. Also open to Hiking, Mountain Biking, and ATV Riding from May 1st to November 20th.
