Through the Years: Holidays at ASI

This year’s holiday exhibition commemorates the 90th anniversary of the American Swedish Institute. How have holiday traditions changed over time? How have ASI’s holiday celebrations changed? Take a step back in time and explore the holiday tradition from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and this year’s guest – the Celtic community.

The Jul exhibit opens with the Family Day festival on Saturday, November 16. Enjoy performances, crafts and other activities for all ages. Included in museum admission.

Thom Yorke has extended Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes – the touring entity comprised of Thom, Nigel Godrich and visual artist Tarik Barri – to include new dates across the U.S., UK and Europe.

Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes features the trio of Thom, Nigel and Tarik performing songs spanning Thom's solo works, including The Eraser, Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes, Atoms For Peace’s Amok, and his recently released ANIMA.

Theatre B presents "The Father", starring Doug Hamilton. Darkly humorous and deeply poignant, Florian Zeller's is a study of what it's like to live with Alzheimer's. We see the story through Andre's eyes as he struggles to make sense of a progressively befuddling world.

The Very Best of Sting & The Police

This outstanding show covers the greatest songs from Sting and The Police that sold over 200 million records in the 1980’s, 1990's and beyond. Led by the popular Twin Cities Police tribute band Toast and the Machine along with amazing guest performers, this Police trio expands and comes alive with an 8-piece ensemble that truly nails the sounds and energy of both Sting and The Police.

The Trip to Bountiful

Carrie Watts dreams of seeing her beloved childhood home one final time, an impossibility under the watchful eye of her son and daughter-in-law. She escapes, and at the bus station befriends a young woman who together start journeying toward Bountiful; however, Carrie soon learns that her town and former home no longer exist as she remembers them.

The State Ballet of Georgia

Rarely do U.S. audiences have the opportunity to see The State Ballet of Georgia. They appeared at Northrop in 2008, and Minneapolis is the only city they will visit in 2020. Under the artistic leadership of Nina Ananiashvili, renowned as one of the greatest ballerinas of all time, the company continues to flourish and expand its repertoire. They will share two of George Balanchine’s greatest masterpieces: Concerto Barocco and Symphony in C.
