The Museum was opened in 1984 and contains an interesting collection of pictures and artifacts portraying the early Akeley history when the largest sawmill in the state was located here and the population was between 3,000 and 4,000.
Located just off the Heartland Bike Trail within walking distance to downtown Akeley.
Campground has fire rings on each site, a public boat access, fishing pier and fish cleaning house. There is a large sheltered area for picnics and family functions. A beautiful sandy swimming beach and playground.

The ACHS collects, preserves and displays information and artifacts pertinent to Aitkin County history. The Depot Museum is located in the historic Northern Pacific depot constructed in 1916 in the city of Aitkin. There are many displays and a well supplied research resource center available for the public to utilize and enjoy.
Aitkin Campground is located in the City of Aitkin on the Mississippi River. There are a total of 9 campsites, 2 drive thru, all with electrical hookups, toilet and shower house, drinking water, picnic tables, boat access, RV dumping station - all within walking distance of downtown Aitkin. Campground managed by Aitkin County Land Department. Office hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 PM except holidays.
