The Art of Fine Furniture (Cancelled)

The Art of Fine Furniture is an exhibit for showcasing works of regional and local studio furniture artisans. Some of the artists are masters of replicating cherished period furniture with exacting accuracy, while others are passionate about creating new and exciting contemporary designs. Either way, their pieces are inspiring in their execution of joinery and craftsmanship. The pieces in the exhibit are made one at a time, and most are one of a kind.

The Arsonists

This dark comedy is a scathing social commentary taking aim at the roots and manifestation of fascism, written in a politically tense setting of 1950s Germany.

A respected member of his community, George Biederman has made his fortune by selling hair follicle replacer. He enjoys wine, his cigars and relishing his success while scoffing at the gullibility of the citizens of his town who let strangers into their homes. And with a string of arson fires around town, he doesn't understand why anyone would do that?!

The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra: Copland’s “Appalachian Spring”

Over Thanksgiving
weekend, the SPCO delves into the many traditions woven into North American
orchestral music — from the calm, soothing hymns and folk sound of George
Gershwin to the sophisticated melodies and groovy jazz of Duke Ellington. Known
for her rich voice and expressive interpretations, Twin Cities-based
mezzo-soprano Clara Osowski returns to perform new arrangements of art songs by
Charles Ives. The program concludes with Copland’s classic and
sentimental Appalachian Spring, embodying the essence of American pastoral
music.
