Gunflint Mail Run Sled Dog Race

The annual Gunflint Mail Run Sled Dog Race will be held at at Trail Center Lodge on the Gunflint Trail in Cook County, Saturday, January 11, 2025. 

The Gunflint Mail Run has adopted a new, simplified format that offers a 10-dog 65-mile-long race with a maximum of 15 teams in the field. The race is broken into two 32.5-mile legs separated by a mandatory rest at Trail Center Lodge. The race will start at 8 am and finish later that night.

Gull Lake Welcome Wannigan

The Nisswa Chamber of Commerce's Welcome Wannigan will be out on Gull Lake for the walleye/northern pike fishing opener on Saturday, May 9th. Since 1959, the Welcome Wannigan has served hot coffee and donuts to anglers on Gull Lake. Peg Benton, wife of then-Nisswa mayor Russ Benton, came up with the idea to take an old Scandinavian coffee and donut tradition and blend it with northwoods history. Wannigan was a term used for supply boats that plied the waters of Minnesota lakes bringing needed goods and food to logging camps.

Gull Lake Oktoberfest

The Gull Lake Events group joins forces to bring a fun, autumn Pub Crawl to the lakes area. FREE shuttle service between locations, commemorative mugs and lots of great food and music are all part of the event. Participating locations include: Ernie's on Gull, Zorbaz on Gull, Grand View Lodge, Jakes Gull Lake, Cowboys, Sherwood Forest, Bar Harbor and The Side Track. Proceeds benefit Confidence Learning Center, Soup Kitchen and the Food Shelf. This event runs in conjunction with Grand View Lodge's 10th annual Golftoberfest, featuring live music under a heated tent.

Gull Lake Frozen Fore Winter Weekend

The Gull Lake Frozen Fore Winter Weekend takes place in the Brainerd Lakes Area each February. This three-day celebration of all things winter, brings together a weekend of activities and fun for adults. From snow golfing to dancing on a frozen lake, this winter weekend is unlike any other.

Gull Lake Classic Boat Show

This is a rare opportunity to appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of some of the world's most unique vintage wood boats. These breathtaking beauties are on public display dockside along the shores of Gull Lake. Enjoy a beautiful afternoon in the sun and learn the history of these inspiration from the past. The event also includes the Classic Boat Tour of Gull Lake and Shoreline parade, departing around 4:30 pm, weather permitting.

Grey Rock

Set in present day and reflecting on the first moon landing in 1969, Grey Rock tells the story of an ordinary man in a small West Bank village determined to go to the moon. The play addresses the chaos that ensues within his family as he builds a space rocket in his shed. Through Grey Rock, Zuabi creates a humorous, fantastical exploration of the inalienable right to dream and how American culture has permeated and influenced Palestinian culture. The piece will be performed in English by a five-member cast from across Palestine, including internationally known actor Khalifa Natour.
