Shelby Lynne

For these special performances, Shelby Lynne will be focusing on her 2007 tribute to Dusty Springfield, Just A Little Lovin’. Shelby says: “Dusty Springfield was a soulful singer. You can’t ever fill her shoes. So I just set out to sing songs we all want to hear again. The road map I followed when cutting these, was the one she made years ago. It was easy. I just sang and let the songs do the work. I’m so glad I did. Dusty inspired it all.”

MN Marine Art Museum: Kajahl: Ultra Mare

Santa Cruz, CA based artist Kajahl's work is inspired by the ancient world. Through his oil paintings, he brings fictional characters to life in imagined scenes. The works in Ulta Mare are inspired by the sea and ancient heritage, using portraiture to challenge and overturn white, European historical narratives. Kajahl reimagines Greco-Roman artifacts, depicting Africans as mystical seaborne figures, redefining the historical portrayal of “aethiops,” an archaic term for dark-skinned people.
