Exhibit Spotlight on Gold Cross Ambulance and Panel Discussion on Rural Ambulance Deserts

On Thursday, September 26, from 6 pm to 8:30 pm, the History Center will spotlight its new exhibit, The Legacy of Gold Cross Ambulance, followed by a panel discussion on the challenges confronting rural emergency medical services. Refreshments will be provided. The event kicks off with a gallery talk about the exhibit by Lara Perkins Hedegaard and Ryan Perkins, whose father, John Perkins, founded Gold Cross Ambulance in 1962 and helped professionalize ambulance service in Minnesota.

Fall Gardening with a Master Gardener- In person or Zoom

Rochester Master Gardeners and the University of Minnesota Extension invite you attend a special 'Gather Round lecture on Thursday, September 12th at 7:00pm. There will be information regarding fall gardening in Minnesota, as well as a tour of the heirloom garden here at the History Center. The event is free for members and $5 for non-members.

Riverbeds & Prairies, Mud & Fibers

“Riverbeds & Prairies, Mud & Fibers” features the art of 5 artists at ArtReach St.Croix’s Royal Credit Union Foundation Gallery in Stillwater, MN. Harvesting layers, textures, and earth tones, these five artists utilize natural materials in diverse ways. The exhibition features hand embroidery artist Alycen Brothen, mixed-media artists Sharon Grosh and Mary Welke, potter S.C. Rolf, and botanical printmaker Linda Snouffer. The cycles of birth, growth, death and renewal are reflected in their pieces, leaving a record of time.

Zero Waste Day in the Park

Join in the fun. Come to the Zero Waste Day in the Park at Sibley Park pavilion, 900 Park Lane, Mankato, on Sunday, September 8, from noon to 3:00. Totally free is: food; music; clothing swap and mending clinic; electronic repair and recycling; face painting; information for reducing, recycling and energy savings. (For clothing repair, please bring necessary parts and supplies). Sibley Park pavilion is by the Kiwanis garage. Take a left turn at the park entrance and go to the end of the road.

Symphony on the Prairie

The City of North Mankato and the Mankato Symphony Orchestra are proud to announce the third annual concert at Benson Park: Symphony on the Prairie! Led by MSO’s Music Director Ernesto Estigarribia Mussi, this FREE event will run from 6:00-7:15 pm on Saturday, September 7th on the north side of Benson Park. Bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket and enjoy popular and toe-tapping tunes in a beautiful outdoor setting. Food and drink will be available for purchase near the parking lot.
