The 12-mile paved trail begins in the charming city of Battle Lake offering shopping, eating, lodging and fun events! You park your vehicle, enjoy the trail, without having to pick a point to turnaround.

Glendalough State Park

Nestled in the transition zone between prairie and hardwood forest, Glendalough offers a true respite from civilization. Crystal clear Annie Battle Lake is a 335-acre, non-motorized "Heritage Fishery" that provides a tranquil fishing experience second to none. Special regulations sustain a steady supply of large sunfish, crappie, and the occasional walleye for the frying pan, and large bass for the camera. Near the pristine shores of this lake are a cart-in campground and canoe-in campsites, all free from the traffic and noise of traditional drive-in camping.

Glacial Ridge Trail Scenic Byway

This officially designated Minnesota State Scenic Byway is a 220 mile route through lakes, woods and farmlands. Massive glaciers once covered this land; as they melted, they left west central Minnesota dotted with lakes nestled among hills and ridges. This byway offers several scenic loops and side trips. Three state parks, Sibley, Monson and Glacial Lakes, are a mix of hardwood forest, prairie and lakes and are good spots for hiking, bird watching and fishing.

Glacial Ridge NWR

The Glacial Ridge NWR is the largest tall-grass prairie restoration project ever undertaken in the US. One day the refuge will encompass over 35,000 acres of Tall-grass prairie, oak savannah, and prairie wetlands along the beach ridges formed from the shores of ancient Glacial Lake Agassiz. Abundant and rare species of wildlife and plants make this an ideal destination for hiking, wildlife photography, hunting, wildlife observation, environmental education.

Glacial Lakes State Trail

The Glacial Lakes State Trail is located on a former Burlington Northern Railroad grade, and is generally level and wheelchair accessible. The trail is paved with asphalt for 22 miles between Willmar, Spicer, New London, Hawick, and the Kandiyohi/Stearns County line. An additional 5 miles from Richmond to Roscoe in Stearns County is also paved. The segment from Willmar to New London has 10 miles of parallel, grass treadway for horseback riding, while the New London to the Kandiyohi/Stearns County line segment has grass shoulders to accommodate this activity.
