Cardboard Boat Races at Moonlite Bay

The Annual Cardboard Boat Races will be sponsored by Moonlite Bay Family Restaurant & Bar with special thanks to Central Package & Display and the White Fish Yacht Club. Cash Prizes will be awarded!

The boats are constructed of nothing but cardboard and Elmer's glue. Come watch them attempt to float and compete in some heated racing action.

Caramel Roll Ride

This is our annual “Beginning of Summer” ride on the trail. Choose to go east to Avon, Collegeville or St Joseph, west to Freeport, and of course, north to Holdingford and the covered bridge, then on the Soo Line Trail to Bowlus and Blanchard Dam on the Mississippi River. As always, the best caramel rolls you can find anywhere will be available at all the rest stops along the way.

Capitol Civil War Tour

Learn about the battle flags, art, memorials, and remembrances of Minnesota's role in the Civil War on a guided tour. Visit the Governor's Reception Room, where renowned paintings depict Minnesota regiments in battle.

In the rotunda, view recently conserved battle flags, including a flagstaff that survived the Battle of Gettysburg. See statues of prominent state officers who served in the war, and hear stories about the governors who as young men participated in some of the pivotal events of the war.

Capitol Builders Tour

Explore locations throughout the building that show the work and methods that went into creating the Minnesota State Capitol in 1905.

Get to know architect Cass Gilbert, who at age 35 created one of the most magnificent public buildings in the nation. Plus, hear about the roles contractors, politicians, and workers played during the nine-year construction period. Then explore the recent restoration completed in 2017.

Candlelit Tours

Join the Dakota County Historical Society at the LeDuc Estate for this truly haunting experience.
