Ziibaaska’ iganagooday: The Jingle Dress at 100 Exhibit

The global influenza epidemic that killed millions of people worldwide in 1918-19, including thousands of North American Indians and Alaska Natives, was the tragic inspiration behind a revolutionary new tradition of healing that emerged in Ojibwe communities of the United States and Canada, the jingle dress dance. Through photographs, oral tradition, and a display of jingle dresses from the MNHS collections, visitors will learn about the jingle dress dance and how its origin can be traced to the Mille Lacs Ojibwe.

YoungLife Triathlon

YoungLife invites you to take part in this exciting event. With a top-notch staff, energetic volunteers and an extraordinary location, you can be sure this is one triathlon you won't want to miss!

The Long Course is Olympic length, and consists of a 1½k swim in Detroit Lake, a 40k bike ride through the beautiful (and hilly!) Minnesota Lakes Country, and a 10k run out to Dunton Locks Park and back via the scenic Pelican River trail.

Young People's: Pictures at an Exhibition

This concert is recommended for grades 3-6

Students will discover the difference between Mussorgsky's original piano version of Pictures and the creative approaches Ravel took when preparing the orchestral version we're familiar with today.

Young People's: Music Around the Globe

This concert is recommended for grades 1-3

This buoyant program will build a bridge for students from familiar tunes to music that highlights one rich musical culture after another, such as Norwegian composer Grieg's Morning Mood, Aleppo Songs by Syrian-American composer Kareem Roustom, Romanian dances by Bartok, Chinese and Mexican folksongs and more.
