William A. Irvin 5K- SOLD OUT

The William A. Irvin 5K started in 1994 and has now become the popular kickoff event to an exciting lineup of races and festivities on Grandma’s Marathon weekend.

A perfect race for people of all ages and abilities, the 3.1-mile course was named after the William A. Irvin ore boat located next to the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC).

A new course, starting in 2016, now takes participants on a scenic tour of Duluth’s Lakewalk on the shores of Lake Superior before running through Canal Park back to the finish line.

Wildflower Tour

Join us for a guided tour to see wildflowers and native grasses whose colors and textures decorate the summer landscape!

Meet your guides at the Oak Savanna Learning Center on CR 9, five miles west of Hwy 169 for this Car caravan tour of the refuge.

Virtual Wildflower Program

Join us for a program to learn about wildflowers and grasses whose colors and textures decorate the fall landscape! In September, a handful of blooms still dot the landscape, with many plants having gone to seed. We'll appreciate the fall colors that these plants present and take a closer look at seed pods and the wildlife that relies upon these as a food source.

Wild Rice Days

Join us for this family event in Downtown McGregor. Saturday Sept 5, 2020 features a full day of activities, arts and crafts, prizes and a parade.

Wild Game Feed

The Waconia Lions do great work and for over 40 years, this wild game feed is their main fund raiser.
The prizes for this event are provided by donations from businesses and individuals from around our community.
This year we have over $12,000 in cash and prizes.

The event includes:

  • Sportsman's Dinner
  • Silent auction (featuring a wide array of items)
