McAnally toured in Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer band for years. Explore the historic photographic process of cyanotypes! This vibrant technique uses the power of the sun to expose detailed prints on surfaces. First, students will be introduced to the basics of creating their own cyanotypes by transferring their first print to paper. Students will then be able to experiment with multiple objects, exposure times, and techniques to create and take home 6-8 prints. The result of cyanotype is pure magic and one of a kind!
Explore the historic photographic process of cyanotypes while transferring unique prints onto fabric. This vibrant technique uses the power of the sun to expose detailed prints on surfaces. First, students will be introduced to the method of cyanotype on fabric by creating 3 small canvas patches. This will allow for experimentation with objects, exposure times, and composition (resulting in handmade patches you can take home to use later!). Students will then cyanotype onto a 15” x 16” cotton cloth tote bag for their final piece. The result of cyanotype is pure magic and one of a kind!
