Nighttime Snowshoe Hike in Voyageurs National Park

Join a park ranger and Voyageurs Conservancy for a guided snowshoe hike and telescope observation session at Black Bay Beaver Pond. Enjoy Voyageurs National Park's amazing night skies, learn about the cultural and scientific significance of the stars and celestial objects you'll see, and how we all can pay a role in preserving natural darkness. 

Snowshoe rentals are free and available upon arrival at Black Bay Beaver Pond trailhead. Bring warm layers and a headlamp!

To access the Black Bay Beaver Pond, drive ~.25 mile on the ice road from Rainy Lake Visitor Center.

As a young girl, medieval saint, healer, visionary, exorcist, and composer Hildegard von Bingen was locked in a cloister’s cell after demonstrating a preternatural sensitivity to the world around her. Sequestered with Hildegard is Jutta, a woman who has spent her life secluded in an effort to recover a whole self after the deepest of trauma. Under Jutta’s guidance, Hildegard attempts to reassemble her own fragmented self while her mentor proselytizes a rejection of brokenness.

Winter Fest 2024

Join us for the 3rd Annual Winter Fest Celebration at Tettegouche State Park. We have a lot of fun outdoor and indoor activities lined up for the day, including a guided snowshoe hike, an outdoor obstacle course, snow snake race, indoor live music by Shore Thing, crafts, storytelling, a presentation on Ojibwe Winter life, s'mores by the outdoor fireplace and lunch available by Johnny B's Food truck. Event sponsored by The Friends of Tettegouche, Best of the North Shore and Lovin' Lake County.

Seth Eastman: Depictions of Native American Life

Embark on a visual journey into Native American life through the eyes of Seth Eastman (1808-1875), a distinguished graduate of West Point and a dedicated U.S. Army mapmaker and illustrator.

Stationed at Fort Snelling, Minnesota, Eastman became pivotal in capturing the essence of Native American existence. His artistic prowess unfolded through paintings, drawings, and sketches, offering a window into the everyday life of the Dakota and Ojibwe people. Commissioned by the U.S. Government, Eastman’s works are considered essential documentation of Dakota life and culture.

500K of bicycle riding over 5 days in SE Minnesota. Our mission is to raise funds for affordable housing organizations while building community and camaraderie with an annual multi-day bicycle ride. Bike.Build.Home 500 was organized to continue the fine traditions of the Habitat 500 bike ride, which was previously coordinated by Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota.
