Join 2019 Jerome Ceramic Artist Project Grant recipient Lynn Wadsworth and a panel of local artists as they discuss the intersections of art, craft, handicraft, and women’s work. This panel discussion will examine work and objects of the participating artists as they relate to topics at hand, with time allotted for audience questions.

The Lutsen 99er movement continues, high above the shores of beautiful Lake Superior. This 99-mile course (69-, 49- and 25-mile options also offered) takes advantage of the scenery and topography of Minnesota’s North Shore.

Snowshoe (need 6 inches) or hike along our luminary trail. If the weather conditions allow; we'll check out some holes in the ice, and try your hand at making a new one. Win an Ice Globe luminary kit to take home!

Lumberjack Jaunt Cross-Country Ski Race

Registration is open for one of the longest running Nordic ski races in Minnesota, the Brainerd Nordic Ski Club's Lumberjack Jaunt. Timing and results by Karma Race Management. Skate and classic techniques races at 16 km and 6 km will be offered. Register by December 1st for discounted entry fee. Reduced registration fee for skiers 18 and under. Lunch provided after the race, included in entry. Terrific prizes for race winners and valuable door prizes for race participants!

Luck o' the Lake 5K Fun Run & Tent Party

Join us for the 8th Annual Luck o' the Lake 5K Fun Run! March 14, 2020 will be a beautiful spring day, and we will celebrate St. Paddy's Day on the festive streets of the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka area.

All proceeds will benefit the many valuable programs offered by the Excelsior - Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce, a 501c6 Non-profit.

Race starts promptly at 9:30 AM on Water Street, and finishes on Water Street and 2nd Ave.

Welcome the Jul season with the celebration of Lucia. Follow the candlelit pathway to the GammelKyrkan for a brief Swedish prayer service including a reading, message, and songs. (Dress warmly - the church dates back to 1856 and has no heat.) Afterward, join us in the Valkommen Hus for coffee and Lucia Buns served by Lucia. 

Gammelgarden's large exhibit of Lucia artifacts will be on display during the month of December for your enjoyment in our Passage Room of the Valkommen Hus. Lucia Dagen is a family tradition for all ages. 

Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals

Brainerd International Raceway will find itself in the center of the drag racing universe August 13-16. The world's best drag racers, the fastest cars and the most insane race fans descend upon the track for the 39th Annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals. The races annually draw thousands to witness Top Fuel dragsters, Funny Cars, Pro Stock cars and motorcycles. You will also see some of the country's top Sportsman dragsters in action. With open pit areas, a vendor midway and a campground called "The Zoo," the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals is an annual tradition for thousands of fans.
