A Victorian Christmas

A Flight of Short Musicals

Join us for one weekend in January for our “short musicals” festival. We’ll present a flight of a half dozen 10 to 20-minute musicals, with brief intermissions between each to enjoy a flight of your favorite beverage – wine, specialty cocktails or non-alcoholic options! The musicals will include:

My Boyfriend is an Alien (and I’m OK with that)
by Christine Toy Johnson & Bobby Cronin

The Manifesto
by Germaine Shames & Nadav Amir-Himmel

Der Strunkenwhitenlieder
by Scott Guy set to music by Liza Lehmann

A Different Pond

An unforgettable story about a simple event—a pre-dawn fishing trip for a boy and his dad—graces our JC Studio in the spring. Our world premiere, based on the Caldecott winning book by celebrated local poet, Bao Phi, unfolds through music and puppetry to reveal an important tale about family and immigration. In the early morning on a lake shore in South Minneapolis a father tells his son about a different pond in their homeland of Vietnam. The young boy learns of a world bigger than the one he’s known and how a family faces daily struggles together.

A Christmas Carol

A miserly and miserable man, Ebenezer Scrooge greets each Christmas with a “Bah, humbug!” until he is visited one Christmas Eve by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future. Through a restless night, the spirits show him happy memories from his past, cruel realities from the present and a grim future should he continue his cantankerous ways. For the past 45 years, Charles Dickens' timeless tale has been a perennial favorite and holiday tradition that invites audiences of all ages to celebrate the merriment of the season with their family and loved ones.

A Boy's Life Weekend

Throughout the weekend, guests can choose between two different tours that explore the life of Charles Lindbergh as a boy.

The Lindbergh: Extraordinary Boy tour will be offered at the top of every hour, with the last tour leaving at 4 pm. This tour introduces visitors to Charles Lindbergh's life on the family farm and what interests and activities he enjoyed as a boy that sparked his interest as an adult in aviation, science and the natural environment. Note: This tour is designed for general audiences.
